A Jolly Green Giant

Wisconsin has more than just cheese.

Day one of the trip started off well. Enjoyed some homemade muffins my mom packed for me at my first fuel stop. I missed a rain shower by maybe five miles, I saw the rain falling on the fields next to me. The cool breeze did feel good though. I stuck mainly to the backroads for a more scenic ride. I never knew how hilly northern Wisconsin was. Nice twisty roads cutting through farmland, it was an enjoyable ride. It was the day before Memorial Day. The small towns I passed through had some memorials setup, and some were even having events. I was lucky not to get caught by any parades.

Now I know I'm heading west.

At the border between Wisconsin and Minnesota there was a rest area with this informative area. It was great place to take a break at after riding through the twisty country roads. They had displays explaining how the area was shaped during the ice age. The glaciers formed the twisty roads I just road though and the Mississippi River I was crossing. The natural east/west border of the country. It also makes the border almost every Midwest state down to the Gulf. It was very interesting, although I would say Mud Island in Memphis is much cooler.

Finally, someone taller than me.

When I was planning this trip and looking for fuel stops, I stumbled across this on Google Maps and had to add it to the route. This park is built to inform people of sustainability. They had a museum there also, but it was closed because of Covid. Still a very cool place to check out if you get a chance.
